Rosmead Primary School in Claremont, Cape Town is close to our office and close to our hearts. The public school receives minimal government funding as it is located in what is considered an affluent area, however, most of the students come from lower income areas and school fees are kept low to accommodate them. Rosmead relies heavily on outside support to provide their students with a quality education. Here are some of the projects the Grow Africa Foundation supports:
The Big 5 Club: Our Big Five Club, made up of Jenman volunteer staff, visits the school weekly to assist with the school’s aftercare program, interacting with Grade R children and helping them with their curriculum, English and self-confidence.
Grade R Play Area: Children learn so much through play and so we are dedicated to providing a stimulating play space for the Rosmead children. In 2017 we built a sandpit, delivered brightly painted tyres, and donated a jungle gym to the school. In 2018 our goal is to green the playing area by laying AstroTurf (ZAR45,000). SPONSORS NEEDED
Rosmead Primary Dining Area: Many children from Rosmead come to school without a packed lunch. The Peninsula Feeding Scheme provides food for these children with food being distributed and eaten in the playground. Rosmead would like to provide a dedicated dining space for the children where they can eat in comfort and with dignity (ZAR30,000). SPONSORS NEEDED
Educational Day Trips & Hiking Club: Jenman African Safaris assists Rosmead Primary with transport when needed, whether for educational day trips or the Rosmead Primary Hiking Club.
